We’ve all heard stories about products from China being unsafe, and sometimes even deadly. There have been recalls on pet food, human food, car parts, clothing, and many other items that are commonly purchased by Americans at monopoly companies like Wal-Mart. See, what Wal-Mart does is this:

A) They use the cheapest manufacturing process possible, inluding using Chinese suppliers who use the cheapest materials and pay their employees the least.

B) The products pass United States Customs and work their way to your local Wal-Mart SuperCenter where people gather by the masses to consume everything from TV’s to batteries, to the mushrooms you add in your spaghetti.

What happened to the late 1980’s / early 1990’s Wal-Mart? You know, the one that promoted “Made In USA” and made a big fuss about how outsourcing everything would hurt our economy? I guess they chose to jump on the money train, because Wal-Mart is today by far the biggest and baddest of the run-America-into-the-ground foreign trade companies. They import practically everything, and sell it to hoardes of people who number into millions and millions every day. Nothing is made in America anymore. This brings me to the story that caught my attention this morning, about a young woman from somewhere in the United States… who purchased some flip flop sandals at her local Wal-Mart to wear during a weekend outing. Take a look at what good ‘ol Uncle Sam Walton’s company had in store for her:

She’s not alone, either… There have been several other women who have experienced the same agonizing pain from cheap Wal-Mart sandals. She said she only wore them a few times, and look what happened to her! From the looks of the pictures, thats atleast 1 full month of pain… not to mention the embarassment one might feel because of the absolutely hideous feet. And you know thats a big deal to women, especially in the summer-time! Get outta here! This situation might have sent some of the women I know into manic depression. But the lady didn’t die. She didnt eat a can of green beans that killed her… she only wore some flip flops. I guess that means it isn’t important enough for the Rupert Murdoch (a rich bastard who owns basically all of the news media… his company is called News Corp) familia to report about.

Is this right? What can Americans do to stop situations like this from happening in the first place? Alot of people would say, “Bring manufacturing back to the United States”… and I totally agree. Not only would this provide us with safer products that wont kill or harm us, but the economic benefit of a country making most of the goods it consumes is astounding. I firmly believe that this is one of the reasons America experienced so much growth, so fast, and became the best country on planet Earth. But, so long as the stuff that we consume is made somewhere else… we continue on this downward trend.
